Gartner just published its 2020 Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms, and we’re pleased to announce that Pyramid Analytics has been recognized for the 7th straight year. We’re incredibly proud of this feat. After all, the world’s leading research and advisory company evaluates hundreds of BI platforms each year, and it’s gratifying to know that we’ve been recognized along with some of the most well-known offerings in the market.
The headline theme in this year’s MQ is augmented analytics. In fact, Gartner opens the report with a discussion of the importance of augmented analytics for data and analytics leaders: “Augmented capabilities are becoming key differentiators for analytics and BI platforms, at a time when cloud ecosystems are also influencing selection decisions.” (It’s also worth noting that of the five Strategic Planning Assumptions—call them the guiding principles for their research—we believe three are related to augmented analytics.)
Not only are augmented analytics a core focus of Pyramid—along with flexibility and balance—it’s one of the key “strengths” in Pyramid’s write-up in this year’s report. We believe it’s an accurate assessment of our platform, and it validates a lot of our recent development efforts.
When we launched our completely re-architected platform in late 2017, we set out to build a full-featured analytics and reporting platform that leveraged existing investments while simultaneously integrating an ML framework to anticipate tomorrow’s analytic needs.
In October, we launched Pyramid v2020, the latest version of our product. It introduced over 150 new enterprise-grade features and capabilities to improve the way organizations make data-driven decisions. The release introduced numerous augmented capabilities (Smart Discovery, Smart Reporting, Augmented Analytics Server, and more) to bring in sophistication without overcomplicating the user experience.
The result of this work? Today, Pyramid strikes a perfect balance between traditional analytics (focus on insights) and augmented analytics (focus on actions, predictions, and recommendations). There’s evidence of this pairing throughout our platform. The graphically based data preparation tool can be used by end users, but also features advanced AI-driven modeling capabilities. The discovery application features NLQ and automatic visualizations to quickly generate insights, but it also offers incomparable analytic depth and capabilities. Those are just a few examples.
This pairing is intentional. By including functionality that can be used by technical and non-technical users alike, our product has something for everyone. This enhances collaboration and deepens organizations’ commitment to analytics. I believe that’s the key to creating enduring analytics cultures.
What else contributes to an enduring analytics culture? Flexibility and scalability. While we’ve doubled down on augmented analytics, it’s our balanced approach to governance and self-service analytics that has been our calling card over the years. Our flexible product architecture gives data leaders the ability to leverage analytics across the organization—without sacrificing administrative controls or security. This not only lets organizations deploy Pyramid across a broad range of use cases (another strength that Gartner notes in the 2020 MQ), it lets organizations easily deploy and scale analytics to many users without complicated provisioning. Lastly, as one of the few vendors on the MQ that supports the full analytics workflow in a single platform, users can collaborate and share analytics insights easily and securely.
The net result of all these efforts? We honestly believe no other competing ABI solution packs as much analytic punch—without overwhelming users—as Pyramid. It’s difficult to fully grasp this by reading Gartner’s MQ (although we encourage you to download a complimentary copy here). That’s something you have to see to believe. (If you’re interested, please reach out to us—we’d be happy to walk you through the product.)
Although we’re flattered to appear on magic quadrants and industry award lists, we’re only successful when our customers are successful. And we pay attention when they aren’t. That’s why customer feedback is a key factor driving our product’s roadmap. As we forge ahead in 2020 and beyond, our customers’ needs will continue to guide Pyramid’s product vision and development efforts. Each release—be it major or minor—will include careful consideration of how our analytics platform can help all types of users make decisions with data.
As Pyramid Analytics evolves, we will continue to focus on making our customers’ enterprise analytics initiatives successful. We believe our extended recognition on Gartner’s MQ confirms this unrelenting focus on customer needs—yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
