Technology company partners with Pyramid Analytics for its power, ease of use, and embedding capabilities
EMC Software C.A., headquartered in Ciudad de Panamá, Panamá, provides technology solutions to banking clients in Latin America, primarily Panama and Venezuela. Among the technology services they provide is an anti–money laundering application.
According to the International Monetary Fund, “Anti-Money Laundering/ Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) controls, when effectively implemented, mitigate the adverse effects of criminal economic activity and promote integrity and stability in financial markets.” As such, AML/CFT applications are in high demand in the region.
THE CHALLENGE
When EMC began employing business-intelligence (BI) software in their application to deliver better graphics, dashboards, and insights to their customers, they were working with a legacy BI vendor. Much of the data they were handling came directly from their customers, and EMC transferred it into their systems. At the time, the process worked for their needs, but when their Technology company partners with Pyramid Analytics for its power, ease of use, and embedding capabilities EMC Software Expands Anti–Money Laundering Application Throughout Latin America legacy vendor was acquired by a much larger company, the service and support on which EMC was relying to properly serve their customers disappeared.
This was happening at a critical time, as EMC was migrating their entire application from being web-based to being on-prem. They needed to be able to embed visualizations and dashboards directly in their AML application, so they could meet their growth goals in this important area.
“Our customers were asking to us to deliver some AI capabilities in our software, so they can really get inside of the information and the data,” says Manuel Carlos Suárez, EMC’s general manager. “To do that, it’s very important to change from a web focus to on-prem.”
EMC had been using their legacy vendor for 7 years, and they didn’t want to start from scratch, but they quickly realized they needed to partner with a leading analytics vendor with superior embedding capabilities — one that was powerful, yet easy to use, and could grow with their customers’ needs.
They needed Pyramid Analytics.
